Thursday, June 26, 2008 U.N. International Day in Support of Victims of Torture Congressman Steny Hoyer (MD-05) and members of Maryland’s Congressional delegation, Reps. Eijah E. Cummings (MD-07), Chris Van Hollen (MD-08), John Sarbanes (MD-03), and Donna Edwards (MD-04) joined the Maryland-based Advocates for Survivors of Torture and Trauma (ASTT) in the U.S. Capitol to show support for victims of torture on the U.N. International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

Hoyer hosted a congratulatory tea reception on Capitol Hill for students from the Fifth Congressional District (Charles, Calvert, St. Mary’s and areas of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties) who were offered appointments to a U.S. Service academy this year.
